This self-guided audio walking tour explores Whitehead’s railway heritage in a compact seaside setting. It will appeal to travelers interested in steam trains, local history, engineering, and small-town character, especially first-time visitors looking for an easy route with a clear theme.

The tour starts at Kings Road Coffee Shop, a convenient place to begin before stepping into the story of Whitehead’s rail past. From there, the route leads into the Whitehead Railway Museum, where several stops highlight different parts of the site and its collection. Along the way, you will also visit Castle Chichester, pass The Stables, and stop at The Turntable, one of the most distinctive features of a working railway environment.

The walk continues toward Whitehead Promenade, where the industrial story opens to sea views, before returning to the museum grounds for the final stops. The tour ends at the Whitehead Railway Museum, bringing the journey full circle.

Most memorable of all, you will experience the contrast between polished locomotives and open coastal scenery, discover traces of Whitehead’s historic rail community, and stand beside evocative features such as the turntable that bring the age of steam vividly to life.
