Best Honfleur Tours in 2026 – Book Self-Guided Experiences

Honfleur

This self-guided walking audio tour explores Honfleur as a port shaped by sailors, faith, painters, gardens, and the wide light of the Seine estuary. It will appeal to first-time visitors who enjoy history, architecture, local culture, and scenic waterfront walks.

The route starts at Le Vieux-Bassin, the town’s iconic old harbor, then passes La Lieutenance, the last strong reminder of medieval defenses, and Église Sainte Catherine, one of France’s most remarkable wooden churches. From there, you continue to the former chapel of the Augustinian convent, the Mairie and Eugène Boudin Museum, Le Jardin Retrouvé, the small statue of Kashtanka from Chekhov’s story, and Naturospace Honfleur.

In the final stretch, the walk opens into Le Jardin des Personnalités and ends at Presqu'île Claude Monet, where Honfleur gives way to expansive estuary views. Along the way, a special story adds the sweeping modern silhouette of the Pont de Normandie to the town’s older streets and quays.

The most memorable moments include the mirror-like harbor lined with tall slate-faced houses, the shipbuilders’ church interior, quiet green corners above the old town, an unexpected literary dog, tropical butterflies near the water, and the luminous horizon that inspired generations of artists.
