Limoux

This self-guided audio walk explores the legends, architecture, and atmosphere surrounding Abbé Saunière’s domain in Rennes-le-Château. It will appeal to travelers drawn to local history, religious art, and one of southern France’s most enduring mysteries.

Your route begins at Domaine de l'abbé Saunière, where stone terraces, garden paths, and sweeping views set the scene. From there, you move through key places tied to the story: the cemetery with its weathered grave markers, the church linked to Abbé Bérenger Saunière, Villa Bethania, and the striking Tour Magdala perched above the landscape. Along the way, the walk also passes smaller local points that help place the site within the village setting.

The tour ends near the heart of the estate after circling through its most important landmarks. By the end, you will have stood beside carved stone, looked across the hills of the Aude, traced the outlines of a famous treasure legend, and seen the contrast between humble village lanes and the dramatic buildings that made this hilltop place unforgettable.
