Best Rumilly Tours in 2026 – Book Self-Guided Experiences

Rumilly

This self-guided audio walking tour explores the medieval heritage, local craft traditions, and quiet riverside charm of Alby-sur-Chéran. It will appeal to first-time visitors who enjoy small historic towns, churches, old bridges, and tucked-away corners that reveal everyday life from earlier centuries.

The route begins at Les Médiévales d'Alby-sur-Chéran, where the village’s medieval identity comes into focus, then continues to the Musée de la Cordonnerie to discover a shoemaking tradition rooted in local history. From there, you pass through Henriette Garden, cross toward the old bridge, and follow the edge of the Chéran gorges before climbing toward Saint-Donat church and the Viaduc des Éparis. The walk then leads to Eglise Notre-Dame de Plaimpalais, its stained glass windows, and the oratory.

The tour ends at Chapelle Saint-Maurice, closing the route on a peaceful and reflective note. Along the way, the most memorable experiences include standing above the Chéran gorges, tracing the village’s medieval streets, admiring sacred architecture and stained glass, and discovering how a small Savoyard community preserves its history through bridges, chapels, and craft heritage.
