Welcome to Annapolis, a compact and lovely yet historically significant city! This tour will guide you around its downtown to narrate the past of Maryland's waterside capital. The tour starts at the historic St. Anne's Cemetery to introduce the notable locals buried there from the late 1600s. Next, you will pass by the Banneker-Douglass Museum to get inspired by the success stories of a famous writer and a great scientist, both African-American Marylanders of the slave origins. A few steps from there, you will see the majestic Maryland State House that was the only one to briefly serve as the Capitol of the United States. Be surprised that the four Declaration of Independence signers founded the local St. John's College, a hotspot for outstanding teaching practices since the 17th century. The tour will walk you past many red brick 18th century houses, including the William Paca House built by the namesake Declaration of Independence signer. Later on, you will meet the US Naval Academy graduates who left a mark on history, and learn about their life and training at this world-renowned naval school. To enjoy the waterfront, you will walk the scenic Ego Valley dockside lined with posh boats and yachts. Finally, you will get a chance to explore the Museum of Historic Annapolis that celebrates the city's history and people who built it. Join the tour and experience the coastal charm and colonial architecture of Annapolis's historic district!
