Take this in-app audio tour of the revered Brisbane Botanic Gardens, an outdoor museum of plant collections that nature lovers will delight in discovering. Entry to the gardens is free. Thanks to the original curator, Walter Hill, it became ground zero for today's prosperous Australian crop industry, and while walking around, you will learn a lot about Hill's contribution to what the Gardens look like today. You will start the tour at the main gate flanked by two over 150 years old noble fig trees and walk the wiggling paths to explore sensibly landscaped areas inside the Gardens. Then, you will come across the Bodhi Tree, which is believed to have a connection with the tree at Bodh Gaya in India, under which the Buddha received enlightenment. Moving further through other stops on the way, you will take a look at the Crows Ash, which planting site was selected to be the initial garden in 1828. Amidst many plants and trees, you will also catch up with the artworks by modern local sculptors. For instance, see a cute little platypus by Bodo Muche on the Platypus Love Seat, as well as learn about a seaman who spent 17 years with aborigines by looking at the "Jemmy Morrell and the Brolgas" statue. At the end of the tour, take a worthwhile climb on top of Residence Hill, where the former curators' cottage is tucked, and relish the modern cityscape with green hues from above. Join the tour to connect with nature and enjoy the beauty and history of the Brisbane Botanic Gardens!
