Greek Doric, German Renaissance, Spanish Baroque, and African Art Deco... all of these architectural styles naturally coexist in Indianapolis!
This in-app audio tour will take you on a leisurely stroll through the city's architectural highlights.
We will begin at the Madame Walker Theatre and work our way through various architectural styles to the Indianapolis City Market, where you can rest and eat after the tour.
On the tour you will see a Masonic Shrine (that is also the oldest stage house in downtown Indianapolis), the neoclassical World War Memorial, and the famous “German house” – the Athenæum. You will also hear an incredible story about a telecom company building that was physically moved... while still providing services to the customers!
P. S.: Dear friend, if you are travelling with an architecturally-minded friend who wants to take you on this tour – do not worry! This will not be a dull enumeration of facts filled with highly technical terms.
Instead, you will hear stories about history's greatest triumphs and incredible achievements hidden behind the walls of magnificent structures. We will guide you through the beauty of symbols and the mystery of forms.
Join the adventure!
