    About Museo d’Arte Orientale

It’s an indoor museum that is less known, so the number of visitors will be lower at all times. Nevertheless, we recommend going there on weekdays or in the morning to explore it at your own pace.

Located in Turin’s historic center, Museo d’Arte Orientale is close to several bus and tram stops in the neighborhood. Bus routes 11 and 52 from Porta Nuova pass close to the museum. You can also board tram 4 from Porta Nuova to reach the museum.

The Museo d’Arte Orientale, or the Oriental Art Museum, is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Located within Palazzo Mazzonis, Museo d’Arte Orientale, or MAO, is a relatively new addition to the list of tourist attractions of Turin. Nonetheless, this museum is home to one of the most impressive collections of Asian art in Italy. So, what’s in store for MAO’s visitors?

    • The museum has a rich and varied collection of Asian art. The first floor hosts art from India, China, Southeastern Asia, and ancient Gandhara. The mezzanine between the first and second floors houses a collection of Japanese art. On the third floor, you will find the Himalayan gallery dedicated to art from Tibet, Bhutan, and Nepal. The fourth and final floor is home to a collection of art from Iran, Iraq, Turkey, and the Arabian Peninsula.
    • There are many temporary events and exhibitions. Current exhibitions available at MAO include Buddha10 and t-space x MAO.
    • You can walk through authentic Japanese rock gardens. Visit the courtyard on the ground floor to explore beautiful and enchanting rock gardens.
