Explore Ancient Rome: Walking Audio Tour from...

Welcome to Ancient Rome! Today, we won't be talking about the Renaissance or the Risorgimento, but we'll delve into the ancient history of this eternal city. Our heroes will be Julius Caesar, Emperor Constantine, Octavian Augustus and his wife Livia, Gnaeus Pompey, and many others. We'll start our stroll at the Circus Maximus, where we'll learn about who was responsible for the Great Fire of Rome, as well as why Roman men once needed to abduct a dozen women. We'll take a walk along the Palatine Hill and learn about the founding of the city, then we'll tour the Colosseum and the Arch of Constantine, where we'll talk about Rome's dark and glory-filled days. As we stroll along the Roman Forum, we'll learn about the important Roman festival of Saturnalia and discuss the tragic yet proud story of Lucretia, which either sparked or was a consequence of the beginning of the Roman Republic. We'll also visit the very spot where Brutus plunged his dagger into Caesar, and we'll end our tour at the Pantheon - a magnificent structure, a symbol of ancient Rome, and the new Rome. Join our walk to immerse yourself in the history of Ancient Rome, learn more about the legends associated with this period, and get to know those who lived and shaped this eternal city.
