The Kraków Zoo is open daily all year round, but its opening hours vary depending on the season. In winter, you can visit it from 09:00 AM to 03:00 PM. During the summer season, the zoo remains open until 07:00 PM. In spring and autumn, the opening hours are gradually extended or reduced. Ticket offices close an hour earlier.
The zoo is worth visiting anytime, but it is a mostly outdoor attraction and is more suitable for exploration during the warm season. Plan your visit for a clear, sunny day to meet all the animals and fully enjoy the picturesque natural setting of the surrounding Wolski Forest.
To make the most of your visit, get there in time for the elephants, penguins, and sea lions' feeding demonstrations. Usually, you can see the elephants being fed at 11:00 AM and 01:00 PM, but it is better to check the schedule on the zoo's website in advance.
The Kraków Zoo gives you a chance to see over 1,400 animals representing about 270 species, over 100 of which are endangered or threatened with extinction. You can meet, among others, Amur tigers and snow leopards, ring-tailed lemurs and pygmy hippos, Indian elephants, and extremely rare Addax antelopes.
A special pride of the zoo is its birds. You can marvel at a colony of pink flamingos and Humboldt penguins and run into peacocks freely walking along the paths.
There is also a small petting zoo with goats, donkeys, alpacas, llamas, Shetland ponies, miniatures rabbits, and more. It is suitable for children, and you can feed animals with carrots or just pet them.
The Kraków Zoo is located in the southwest part of the city, about 8 km from Old Town, at 14 Aleja Kasy Oszczędności Miasta Krakowa. You can get there by public bus. Take route 734 (former 134) to its final stop.
Admission fees vary depending on the season. From April 1 to October 31, a ticket to the zoo costs 30 PLN for adults and 25 PLN for children (3+ years of age), students (up to 26), pensioners, and carers of disabled persons. Disabled people can visit the zoo for 1 PLN. From November 1 to March 31, admission fees are 28 PLN and 23 PLN, respectively.
Entry is always free for children up to 3 years old and children from orphanages.
