About Colosseum

To make the most out of your visit, consider booking a self-guided tour of the Colosseum that includes skip-the-line tickets. You don't need to worry about booking or planning anything, as everything is already arranged for you.

The Colosseum is open daily from 9:00 AM to one hour before sunset. You can check the closing time for the current season on the monument's official website.

During the holidays, the Colosseum is open on December 24 and 31 and is closed on December 25, January 1, and May 1.

If you want to avoid tourist crowds and the Italian heat, schedule your visit for the early morning or the late afternoon.

The Colosseum is one of the most visited attractions in Rome and a must-see for anyone who loves ancient history and architecture. Built in the first century AD by Roman emperor Vespasian and his successor, Titus, the amphitheater could host up to 80,000 spectators who came to watch gladiator fights, executions, and animal hunts. Here is what you can do at the Colosseum:
