Pioneer Courthouse Square is an urban park in Portland’s downtown district. This square is one of the most famous and visited tourist destinations in Portland. Here are some of its highlights:

  • See a popular venue for many events in Portland. On average, the square hosts about 300 events every year. These events range from concerts to performances and lectures. You can learn more about upcoming events on the official website.
  • Walk around a beautiful and picturesque square. There are several points of interest: a semicircular amphitheater used for various events and a cascading waterfall on the western side of the square.
  • Admire unique and memorable art pieces. Two of these art pieces are of particular interest to visitors: Allow Me, a bronze statue of a businessman with an umbrella, and Weather Machine, a device that announces the weather for the next day at noon.
  • Learn the names of people who helped build the square. Many bricks bear the names of people who bought them to support the square's construction.

The square itself is open to the public throughout the year. Opening hours for various businesses on the square vary.

The best season to visit the square is summer: the weather is warm, and there are plenty of events. However, this is also the busiest period of the tourist season in Portland. Therefore, we recommend going to the square in the morning or before the desired event.
