Few places combine the myth and magic of the Ore Mountains the same way as the medieval castle Scharfenstein, located in mystic position high above the Zschopau valley.
Also inside Scharfenstein Castle is the Christmas and Toy Museum. It displays a unique treasure of folk art objects from the Erzgebirge and documents the Erzgebirge tradition of the "Männelmacher" like few other museums. You'll be enchanted by the sight of nutcrackers, smoking men, and Christmas pyramids.
After seeing old-fashioned toys, head to the castle museum and learn all kinds of exciting stories about Karl Stülpner (born 1762), the "Robin Hood of the Erzgebirge".
In the other exhibitions, you can get hands on! There are special interactive exhibitions suitable for children that touch on topics like the Sandman, the world of knights, and even showcases of modern Playmobil figures!
