About Adolphe Bridge

We recommend visiting this bridge during warmer times of the year to enjoy the view from the bridge. If you want to avoid crowds, we suggest going there on weekdays or in the morning.

The bridge is open to all traffic throughout the year every day.

Also known as the New Bridge, the Adolphe Bridge is a double-decked arch bridge across the Pétrusse in the capital of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. So, what makes this bridge special?

  • It’s an unofficial national symbol of Luxembourg. Named after Grand Duke Adolphe, the first ruler of independent Luxembourg, this bridge represents the duchy’s independence.
  • This bridge is one of the main attractions in Luxembourg. It is famous for its magnificent views of Pétrusse Parks below.
  • It’s the only double-decked bridge in Luxembourg. The lower deck was added beneath the upper deck during the latest renovation period from 2014 to 2017.
  • This bridge accommodates many types of traffic. Cars, trams, cyclists, and pedestrians can cross the bridge via the upper or lower decks.
  • At the time of its construction, it had the largest stone arch worldwide. Even though that is no longer the case, the Adolphe Bridge remains an engineering marvel and a must-see landmark of Luxembourg.

The Adolphe Bridge is in Luxembourg City, the capital of Luxembourg; you can reach it by bus, tram, and on foot.

Bus routes 4, 5, 6, 9, 16, 22, and 609 will take you there. The closest bus stops are Hamilius (6 and 16), Luxembourg/Centre, Monterey (609), and Center, F.D. Roosevelt (4). Alternatively, you can board the T1 tram line and disembark at the Luxembourg Place de Metz station.
