Best Kladno Tours in 2026 – Book Self-Guided Experiences

Kladno

This self-guided audio walk explores the tragedy, memory, and renewal of Lidice. It will speak most strongly to travelers interested in World War II history, memorial landscapes, and the human stories behind places that seem quiet at first glance.

Your route begins at the Lidice Memorial, where open grass, museum spaces, the rose garden, and powerful bronze figures set the tone. From there, you follow the former village area past the site linked to Stanislav Horák's farm, the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, and the footbridge over the Dřetovický Stream. The walk continues toward the cemetery in Vrapice and returns to key commemorative points, including the Memorial to the Children Victims of the War, before ending at the Lidice Gallery and Lidice Art Collection.

Along the way, you will move through a landscape where absence is part of what you see: broad fields, gentle paths, scattered memorial markers, and places where ordinary village life once stood. The most memorable moments include standing before the children’s memorial, seeing how art and flowers answer violence, and feeling the contrast between the stillness of the grounds and the weight of the history remembered here.
