The best season to visit Gëlle Fra is spring: the weather is good, and there are fewer tourists in Luxembourg. We recommend going there on weekdays or in the morning to avoid crowds. Also, the monument looks particularly picturesque during the Christmas holidays, so this is also a great time to go there.

Gëlle Fra, also known as the Monument of Remembrance, is a memorial to soldiers from Luxembourg who fought during WWI, WWII, and the Korean War. Here are some of the things you can do here:

• Take a look at one of the most famous landmarks in Luxembourg. The monument consists of three bronze statues. One of the statues is gilded and stands atop a tall granite obelisk; it’s a statue of Nike, the Greek goddess of victory. Two bronze statues at the foot of the obelisk symbolize soldiers from Luxembourg: one has given his life in service to his country, while the other is mourning his comrade’s passing.
• Admire a beautiful view of the city. Sitting atop the remains of the ancient Beck bastion, the area around the monument has a commanding view of the Pétrusse Valley and the Adolphe Bridge.
• Take part in many events on Constitution Square. This square is home to the monument of Remembrance and a site of many events throughout the year. The local Christmas fair is a particular highlight.

You can find the Monument of Remembrance in Constitution Square in the Ville Haute quarter of Luxembourg City. There are several transport options to reach this monument: bus, light rail, or on foot.

Bus routes 10 and 18 are your best option. Disembark at the Centre, F.D. Roosevelt bus stop, turn back, and walk along Boulevard Franklin D. Roosevelt for four minutes until you reach Constitution Square. The closest tram station to the monument is Luxembourg, Place de Metz; however, it’ll take 20 minutes to walk from there.
