Being one of Stockholm's oldest and most notable churches, St. James Church catches your attention due to its bright red walls and green copper roof. It has been standing in that same spot since the 16th century. The church features a variety of architectural styles due to a long construction period and numerous alterations. You can marvel at Gothic pointed windows as well as Renaissance and Baroque elements.
The church has its own chamber choir and vocal ensemble and holds a great and powerful organ that counts among the largest neo-symphonic instruments in Sweden. Its impressive facade was designed in the 18th century, and the last alteration was made in 1976. You can admire the excellent sound quality as soon as music fills the space.
St. James Church is located in central Stockholm at Västra Trädgårdsgatan 2A, just a few steps from the Royal Opera, King's Garden, and other popular attractions. The closest metro station is Kungsträdgården, served by the Blue line.
