About Museum of Science

The Museum of Science in Boston is open daily, except on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Six days a week, Saturday through Thursday, you can visit the museum from 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM. On Friday, opening hours are extended to 09:00 PM.

On Thanksgiving Eve and Christmas Eve, the museum closes earlier.

The museum tends to be very crowded on the weekend and much quieter on the weekdays before 11:00 AM. To make your visit more enjoyable, plan it for Monday or Tuesday morning and set aside at least two hours to explore every corner.

  • Explore the world of science, from dinosaurs to nanotechnology

The Museum of Science is a unique three-story place that immerses you in the world of nature and technology. Wandering through the museum halls, you can take a journey inside the human body, see a full-size model of Tyrannosaurus rex, learn about vaccine development or space exploration, and watch how a robotic dog uses AI to navigate an obstacle course.

  • Feel the Arctic chill and amaze by bolts of lightning

This museum is among the best places in Boston to visit with kids because of its interactive exhibits and amazing live presentations. You can feel the Arctic chill by touching a wall of real ice and explore the nature of lightning by watching a fascinating performance in the Theatre of Electricity.

The Museum of Science is located in Boston's Science Park — a plot of land spanning the Charles River. It is near the heart of Boston, so you can easily reach the museum by public transportation. The most convenient option is to take the MBTA Green Line's branch E or D to the Science Park station.

This fascinating museum with more than 700 interactive exhibits is a place to get lost, so it is better to take your journey with your own in-app audio guide. The audio tour Boston Museum of Science: Inspiring Scientific Curiosity will lead you through the museum highlights, tell incredible scientific stories, and help you to make the most of your day.

General admission to the exhibit halls costs $29 for adults, $25 for seniors over 60, and $24 for children aged 3–11. Entry is free for children under three and the Museum of Science members of all ages.
