About USS Constitution Museum
The USS Constitution Museum in Boston is open daily, except on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. Standard opening hours are 10:00 AM – 05:00 PM. On December 24, the museum closes earlier, at 02:00 PM.
The museum is dedicated to the famous USS Constitution frigate, but the ship is operated separately from the museum. To have a chance to explore both attractions, choose any day except Monday and Tuesday, when the frigate is closed.
- Learn the history of the iconic warship
Housed in a historic shipyard building, this museum brings history to life. With two floors of hands-on exhibits, the museum lets you sail through more than two centuries of the USS Constitution career. You will know how the ship was built, learn about the War of 1812, and see how the USS Constitution became a national icon.
- Have an immersive experience
You can not only learn the ship's story but fully experience it. If you visit the museum with kids, they will be happy to act as real sailors living in the past: swing in a hammock, furl a sail, scrub a desk, and fire a cannon.
The USS Constitution Museum is situated in the Charlestown Navy Yard at the end of Boston's Freedom Trail. One of the best ways to get to the museum, especially on sunny summer days, is by ferry departing from Long Wharf near the New England Aquarium and arriving at Charlestown.
Alternatively, you can reach the museum by bus, taking the 93 route to the Chelsea St @ Fifth St stop, or by foot, following the Freedom Trail Red Line to the Charlestown Navy Yard.
Due to its convenient location on the Freedom Trail, the museum can become a part of a long and pleasant walk through historical sites related to the American Revolution.
