The main facility of the museum is located at 1300 1st Ave, Seattle, WA 98101. Seattle Asian Art Museum’s address is 1400 E Prospect St, Seattle, WA 98112. The Olympic Sculpture Park is located at 2901 Western Ave, Seattle, WA 98121.
The Museum is easily accessible by car or public transport.
SAM offers vouchers for discounted parking. Russell Investment Centre garage is directly under the museum, and 3rd & Stewart garage is four blocks away.
Bus stops are located at 2nd and 3rd Ave nearby, University Street tram and light rail station is one block away. Westlake Centre monorail station is about 7 min walk from the museum. Ferry terminal is within walking distance. Bike racks are available in the vicinity.
The main facility of the Seattle Art Museum (SAM) is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The museum is closed on Monday and Tuesday, and on public holidays.
The Museum is normally less busy on weekdays, mornings and late afternoons are the best times to visit to avoid the crowds as much as possible.
Established in 1933, Seattle Art Museum is the place to go for culture lovers in this otherwise art-saturated city. Apart from the main museum in downtown, the complex includes Seattle Asian Art Museum (SAAM) featuring a collection of historic and contemporary art from the Asian region, and the Olympic Sculpture Park, a waterfront public space with modern and contemporary sculpture.
The main facility opened in its current location in 1991. The collection includes around 25,000 works of art from around the world, spanning a wide range of cultures from antiquity to our times. From ancient American and Australian Aboriginal art to classical European paintings and prints and Islamic ceramics and watercolours, the collection covers many layers of human culture. All the while, modern and contemporary art is probably best represented at the museum.
