The zoo is home to one of North America's largest populations of great apes. See the most mysterious of them in action at the orangutan complex. Did you know the name orangutan comes from _Orang Hutan_, which means 'Person of the Forest'? Well, you do now. And you'll learn lots more fun facts about our animal friends at Zoo Atlanta!
Keep things chill like the Aldabra tortoises - the second-largest species of tortoise in the world. There are monkeys, pandas, otters, and more weird looking birds and reptiles than you'd find in Jurassic Park.

- •Food stands close an hour prior to the grounds closing, rides close a half-hour prior
- •Paid parking is available on-site for a rate of $3 an hour for a maximum daily rate of $12
- •Pets are not allowed, except service animals. Service animals may not be permitted in some areas
- •Zoo Atlanta’s Service Animal Admittance Policy meets the requirements defined by law under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This Policy defines service animals as dogs or miniature horses who are trained to perform a specific task for an individual with a disability. Emotional support animals and other animals are not permitted on Zoo grounds
