This is not your typical aqueduct tour and quick photo stop. This is the self-guided audio tour to go inside the fortress and understand what it was like to live inside a war machine. Elvas is the most fortified city in Europe, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it was called the Queen of the Frontier because for 800 years it was the key that locked Portugal to Spain.
