The Hermitage is the second largest art museum in the world. It is easy to get lost here, because the route through all the halls is 24 kilometres long. For this reason, this audio tour has been crafted to follow a short route, comfortable for those who come here for the first time. This audio tour contains the most important masterpieces of the collection only.
The audio tour will start on Palace Square where you'll learn about the museum's history and architecture. Then, you will enter the State Rooms of the Winter Palace via the famous Jordan Staircase. You will follow the footsteps of the imperial family and their guests, and see the halls of the Grand Enfilade. In these halls, important state decisions were made, royal receptions and throne ceremonies were held. Afterwards, you will enter the room, after which the Winter Palace is called the "Hermitage", and examine the Peacock Clock.
Next, you will see paintings of the world-class collections. The Hermitage has two original paintings by Leonardo da Vinci and the only statue of Michelangelo in Russia.
A fascinating and easy walk with an interesting story about the main masterpieces of the museum's collection awaits you - ideal for a first visit. The tour is designed for 2-2.5 hours. After the end of the tour, you can continue exploring the museum on your own.
