About Georgia Aquarium

We recommend visiting this location outside of the tourist season to avoid crowds. For the same reason, it’s preferable to go there on weekdays or in the morning.

You can find Georgia Aquarium directly opposite Centennial Olympic Park at the heart of Atlanta. The most optimal ways to reach the aquarium are by metro and bus.

The closest metro stations are Peachtree Center on the Gold and Red Lines and CNN Center Station on the Blue and Green Lines, respectively. The Five Points and Civic Center are the nearest bus stops to the aquarium. You can get to the museum from all these stops in 10 to 15 minutes.

The aquarium receives visitors every day throughout the year. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, you can visit the aquarium from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Its opening hours on Tuesdays are 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, while on weekends you can go there from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

This aquarium is the largest in the United States. Furthermore, it is the third-largest aquarium worldwide. So, what can you do here?

  • Observe thousands of aquatic creatures across seven galleries. The aquarium is home to thousands of animals from different regions of the Earth. It hosts seven galleries dedicated to a distinct and unique environment: Tropical Diver, Dolphin Coast, Aquanaut Adventure, Cold Water Quest, Ocean Voyager, Pier 225, and River Scout.
  • Take part in an exciting animal encounter. You can dive under the water in a shark cage, swim with a manta ray, pet a dolphin, and get to know many nautical creatures much better.
  • Watch amazing presentations. Admire the grace and intelligence of dolphins, learn about ancient aquatic life via virtual reality, get a closer look at some of the most popular exhibits in the aquarium from behind the scenes, and much more!
