  • Admire the view of the Grand Canyon and get some rest

Founded in 1914, Hermits Rest is the final stop at Hermit Road. The place perfectly blends in with the natural beauty of the Grand Canyon. Stone and rock were used in the construction of Hermits Rest, designed by renowned architect Mary E.J. Colter. Explore the historical cabin, eat at the snack bar and refill your water bottle in the fountain. Discover the wildlife, meet magnificent elk, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the place.

Hermits Rest is located at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, at the end of Hermits Road.

You can walk, bicycle, or take a free shuttle bus from the Village from March through November from 4:00 AM. The last return bus leaves Hermits Rest half an hour after sunset. In winter, the road is open for private vehicles.
