Enchanting Paris: A Journey Through Iconic Landmarks with Musée Rodin Ticket
What a massive collection of Rodin't works and studies, and of some of the great works of his artist friends as well (a real suprise). In particular, was thrilled to see so many pieces by Camille -- after reading once abou her destroying most of her own works, it was a delight to discover that some of her masterful works had survived. The works by Monet and Van Gough were a total delight and suprise.

Directions

Notre Dame de Paris stands on Île de la Cité, central Paris, at 6 Parvis Notre-Dame - Place Jean-Paul II.

Notre Dame de Paris, on Île de la Cité in the heart of Paris, is one of Europe’s defining Gothic cathedrals. Construction began in the 12th century and continued for roughly two centuries, creating the monument known for its soaring vaults, sculpted façade, rose windows, flying buttresses, and famous gargoyles. The cathedral has long been a religious and civic symbol of Paris, linked to major national moments and to Victor Hugo’s 1831 novel, which helped renew public appreciation for the building. After the devastating 2019 fire, Notre Dame became a global symbol of heritage preservation. Even during and after restoration, it remains a deeply meaningful landmark where architecture, history, literature, and the identity of Paris meet.

Before you enter

  • Arrive at opening for shorter waits and calmer views of the interior.
  • Check current opening hours before visiting, especially for Thursday evening access.
  • Dress respectfully, as Notre Dame de Paris remains an active place of worship.
  • Keep bags light to move more easily through entrance and security areas.

What to expect

  • Look for the sculpted western façade, rose windows, buttresses, and gargoyles.

  • Crowds are steady throughout the day, especially around midday and weekends.

During your visit

  • Speak quietly and be mindful of worshippers during services or prayer times.
  • Pause to notice changing light through stained glass inside the nave.
  • Step outside afterward to appreciate the cathedral’s buttresses from different angles.
  • Allow time around the parvis for exterior photos and a fuller sense of scale.
