Things to do in Peterhof for self travelers

When I visit Peterhof with kids, I always recommend a slow walk through the Lower Park focused on the trick fountains near Monplaisir. For families, it’s one of the most joyful things to do in Peterhof: children run through the surprise jets while adults enjoy the Gulf breeze and quieter corners away from the Grand Cascade crowds. Locals know the best time is late morning, when the light is soft and the paths are less busy. If you’re deciding what to see in Peterhof, start there, then pause by the small shoreline benches. Many tours in Peterhof rush this area, but it’s one of the most memorable attractions in Peterhof.

I recommend coming to Peterhof from late May to early September, when the fountains are fully running and the sea air along the Lower Park feels especially fresh.
