Insider tips for visiting Santa Cruz de Tenerife

WeGoTrip Inc

WeGoTrip Inc is a local guide who has been publishing tours since for your discovery of hidden gems and local specialities of Santa Cruz de Tenerife on their personal guide page (view profile). Explore their expert tips planning trip to Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

When I’m in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, I usually split my time between the old center around Plaza de España and El Toscal. The center is where many classic attractions in Santa Cruz de Tenerife sit close together, but I like slipping into El Toscal for its faded mansions, small galleries, and quieter local bars. For sea views, I recommend the Avenida Marítima and the area near the Auditorio and Parque Marítimo, especially at sunset. If you’re deciding what to see in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, I’d also wander up to the Rambla and García Sanabria Park, where locals slow down under huge ficus trees. Even many tours in Santa Cruz de Tenerife miss that everyday rhythm.

When I visit Santa Cruz de Tenerife for food, I usually head first to El Toscal and the streets around La Noria. El Toscal has old-school taverns, creative bistros, and wine bars tucked into historic buildings, while La Noria comes alive in the evening with terrace dining and local plates. If you visit Santa Cruz de Tenerife, I also recommend the Mercado de Nuestra Señora de África area for daytime eating—locals go for fresh cheese, seafood, and quick island lunches. In any travel guide Santa Cruz de Tenerife, these spots deserve more attention than the obvious waterfront stops. For me, eating well is one of the best things to do in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

When I stay in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, I like mixing the city with short escapes nearby. One of my favorite attractions in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the walk from the center to the Auditorio and Palmetum, then out toward Las Teresitas for a swim with the Anaga mountains behind you. If you’re deciding what to see in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, I’d also make time for San Andrés and a drive or bus ride into Anaga’s laurel forest trails. Many tours in Santa Cruz de Tenerife stick to central landmarks, but locals know the best rhythm is city streets in the morning and the coast or mountains by late afternoon.
