About Larimer Square

Larimer Square is a vibrant outdoor area that can be visited 24 hours a day, all year round.

Larimer Square has something to offer its visitors at any time of day. If you are an early bird, get there in the morning to grab a coffee and take a pleasant stroll admiring Victorian buildings. You can enjoy shopping during the day, taste new food at dinner, and have fun at night venues after sunset.

  • Experience the beating heart of the city

Larimer Square is a historic neighborhood with Victorian-era buildings turned into a trendy shopping and dining area. Being the oldest commercial block in Denver, this place remains the beating heart of the expanded city. Day and night, it is flooded by both tourists and locals, strolling beneath strings of lights and Colorado flags and enjoying a festive ambiance.

  • Admire the living history

Larimer Square is not only a lovely pedestrian-friendly area and home to some of the city's best restaurants, bars, and boutiques. Named after the pioneering General William Larimer, it is the place where Denver began. The square is situated on the site of the original 1858 pioneer camp and keeps history alive, being the best-preserved block of 19th-century buildings in downtown Denver.

Larimer Square is located in the historic LoDo (Lower Downtown) district of Denver, occupying the block of Larimer Street between 14th and 15th Streets. You can get there on foot from almost anywhere downtown or hop on the free MallRide bus and get off at 16th Street Mall & Larimer Street stop.

Explore the LoDo district, where the history of Denver originally began, with the self-guided audio tour Denver in 2 Hours: a Historical Walk through the Mile High City. You will dive into Denver's past, discover historical and modern city landmarks, and learn some fantastic facts about the capital of Colorado.

I stumbled upon this audio walking tour, and it was the best experience. I not only got to see some of the stand out attractions, but also. Some of the staple buildings and theaters of Seattle. It really gave me a sense for the culture in the city. I especially loved the $9 price tag. Thank you thank you! -Cybill
