Directions

Brooklands Museum is on Brooklands Drive in Weybridge; from Weybridge station, take a taxi or check local bus connections.

Brooklands Museum in Weybridge occupies part of the historic Brooklands site, where Hugh Locke King opened Britain’s first purpose-built motor racing circuit in 1907. Its steeply banked track became a landmark of early speed records and drew drivers, engineers and spectators during the pioneering years of British motorsport. Brooklands was also a centre of aviation: aircraft were built and tested here, and the site played an important role in aircraft production during the Second World War. Racing ended with the outbreak of war in 1939 and never resumed, but surviving sections of track preserve the scale of the original circuit. Today the museum brings together vintage racing cars, aircraft and a Concorde, connecting two intertwined stories of twentieth-century engineering and transport.

Before you enter

  • Check the museum’s current opening hours before travelling; special events may affect what you can see.
  • Allow several hours if you want to explore both the motoring and aviation displays.
  • Wear comfortable shoes for walking between buildings and outdoor exhibits.

What to expect

  • The site combines historic buildings, surviving parts of the circuit, racing vehicles and aircraft.
  • Some exhibits are outdoors, so bring a layer or rain protection in changeable weather.
  • Look for displays that explain how motorsport and aviation developed side by side at Brooklands.

During your visit

  • Pause beside the surviving banking to appreciate the scale of the original racing circuit.
  • Leave time for the Concorde and the wider aircraft collection.
  • Check on-site information for any same-day changes to exhibit access.
